the day clint got chopped at the beach

Well the rumous are true! The long, dreaded, knotty locks have been cut off by those present at Amie-Jade's farewell bbq down at the beautiful kingston park @ Seacliff beach.

Thank you so much for all the kind donations we collected for AJ's charity work and we managed to raise $165! A great effort from everyone at the park!

AJ is off to sunny South America on the 28th January for a month of sightseeing/touring and then to work for Operation Restoration in Bolivia for 2 months. Heres their website:

http://www.ywambolivia.org.uk/

The money raised is being donated to this organisation. A worthy cause helping youths 8 to 18 off the streets. Good luck AJ we wish you all the best and we will keep you in our prayers! Mucho Gracias Amigo, dont forget to send us a postcard!

Heres how it unfolded.....

Thanks to Beth and Kylie for the plaits and making my dreadlocks worse than what they were! haha

We all got to say farewell and good luck to AJ...

Then everyone got their turn to chop a lock....

even kylie had a go...as much as she said she'd miss it, she secretly enjoyed it!

By this stage i was feeling it....

Loz almost made me cry but not quite....

I was holding back the tears here.....Kylie, why so happy?

Our final days of our epic journey

Wow.. it is our final day overseas :( how time has flown!!! We have experienced soo much. But for now, here are our last few days in London..

Lora took us to the Camden Markets after we travelled from Bath back to London. These are the COOLEST markets ever! We could have spent all day and night here!

We saw many weird and wonderful things...

.."and you can read about it in my new book"...

We did buy a few things (including some awesome tshirts which we look forward to showing off back home) but we also got up to some other stuff.. namely taking photos with whatever we thought looked cool.

The markets used to be an old horse stable, so there are gigantic horse statues everywhere.

Check out our sweet ride..

We ate nachos and had a yummy crepe. Twas a fun arvo/evening!!

The next day, Monday, Clint and Ky went to Westminster Abbey.

Loras friend Russ was awesome enough to sneak us in for free :) Thanks Russ!! It was totally worth taking over 2hours to see it all and hear the history of this beautiful place. We weren't allowed to take photos in most of it, but heres a couple snip snaps of the Cloisters.

After the Westminster Abbey we went to Hamleys.. the Oldest (and one of the Biggest) toy shops in London. It has 6 storeys of fun!!

It was the coolest toy shop.. the only dissapointment, on Kylies behalf.. was the lack of Carebears :( whats a toy shop with out CAREBEARS!???

Clint took some sweet shots of Piccadilly circus

We took a stroll down Regent Street and met Lora and Russ at Trafalgar Sq. The fountains had been switched off because the water had frozen over! Sweet! So what did we do?? We smashed it of course :) nice!!

Then we headed back to Loras for some yummy yummy Curry!!

We can't believe its come to an end! There's so many places we've been to and said "Next time.." we will be back. We're about to spend our last day trying to pack all the stuff that we've bought. We hop on the plane 9.30pm tonight. We will be back lunch time on thursday, 7th Jan. What a way to finish our trip, 25hours on a plane yippee!! Ah well, plenty of time to reflect!

See you all soon! Thanks heaps for all the emails and comments while we've been away. So glad you've all enjoyed sharing our journey.

Please pencil in Sunday, January 17th. Clint is being Baptised at Grange Beach. Meet at 5.30pm at the Grassed area (near the top of the jetty)

What journeys will 2010 bring??

London and Bath

Happy New Year Everyone!! We have flown back to the UK from Norway and what a mission it was to get here! We had to get up at 3am to catch a bus to the airport and then a flight from Alesund to Riga in sunny Latvia. From there we flew to London and we arrived at Loras house about 4pm in the arvo.

So after 12hours of travelling (2 flights, 3 buses and 2 trains) what should we do? A girls night of course! We went down to the local blockbuster and we rented a view dvds, got some chocolate and some beer to ease Clints pain! Ha!

Thanks Lora for letting us stay at yours!!

It was raining and very cold in London and there’s no better way to fully experience this kind of weather then to line up for 45mins on the street to get into the London Dungeons (this was the short line, we had ‘priority’ tickets) We have to admit it was worth the wait as it was very cool inside! Ask us when we get home, to tell you all about it. We weren’t allowed to take pictures ourselves, but we bought a couple crackers! Clint looks terrified!!!

Being back in London on a tuesday night meant that we were able to visit the Spice of Life again for their Blues/Jazz jams session. We were very lucky this evening to be in the company of some very talented musos. Including this guy, whoi had his front teeth filed level and plated so that he could play guitar with his teeth (and that he did) how rock is that! I even told him how much he rocked and he agreed to a photo, what a nice guy. He even played guitar behind his head! Wow!

We didn't have any plans for New Years and we toyed with the idea of heading back to Berlin or even joining in the festivities back in Edinburgh. After some late night and last minute searching in Norway we decided to visit the English town of Bath about 1 and 1/2 hour train ride from London.

We arrive in Bath not knowing much about the place except that they have Roman Baths and that Stonehenge isn't too far away. Our hostel is right in the middle of town and on the way there we were amazed at the amount of shops there were and how beautiful the place is. We have pretty much got it down pat now to suss a new place out quite quickly and work out whats what.

We have decided that Bath is awesome for the following reasons;
*The shops here are amazing, something for everyone. We cashed on on the after Christmas sales!

*Lots of local organic beer

*Bath is the Vegetarians dream place to eat out, they even have a veggie pub!

 *Everything is within walking distance
The Bath Abbey and the Roman Baths are in the city centre!

*The home of Jane Austen
Us enjoying our tea at the Jane Austen Tea House

*The Avon river running through the center, lovely to walk along with a new fiance :)

*The people are very helpful and love to help.

Kylie feeding the local pigeons (again!!) Look they're even lining up!!

New Years Eve we made the trip out to Stonehenge. Wow what a magical and mystical place that was!! It was amazing being there, but we couldn't believe how cold it was! Even with the sun out, our hands pretty much froze and they might as well have turned blue (Ky left her gloves at the hostel so we wore one of Clints each. Oops!)

The Roman Baths were amazing too! The pictures pretty much speak for themselves. Most of it is just ruins, except for the main bath, which after all those centuries wince it was first built is still bubbling!

Clint did the adult audio guide...

Kylie did the Childrens audio guide (and got a certificate at the end. yay)

Some of the yummy food we ate in Bath :)

:) New Years Eve.. Meal and dessert :)

A couple of happy snaps from new years

We leave Bath on the 3rd of Jan, and then spent 2more nights in London until we fly home.
