London and Bath

Happy New Year Everyone!! We have flown back to the UK from Norway and what a mission it was to get here! We had to get up at 3am to catch a bus to the airport and then a flight from Alesund to Riga in sunny Latvia. From there we flew to London and we arrived at Loras house about 4pm in the arvo.

So after 12hours of travelling (2 flights, 3 buses and 2 trains) what should we do? A girls night of course! We went down to the local blockbuster and we rented a view dvds, got some chocolate and some beer to ease Clints pain! Ha!

Thanks Lora for letting us stay at yours!!

It was raining and very cold in London and there’s no better way to fully experience this kind of weather then to line up for 45mins on the street to get into the London Dungeons (this was the short line, we had ‘priority’ tickets) We have to admit it was worth the wait as it was very cool inside! Ask us when we get home, to tell you all about it. We weren’t allowed to take pictures ourselves, but we bought a couple crackers! Clint looks terrified!!!

Being back in London on a tuesday night meant that we were able to visit the Spice of Life again for their Blues/Jazz jams session. We were very lucky this evening to be in the company of some very talented musos. Including this guy, whoi had his front teeth filed level and plated so that he could play guitar with his teeth (and that he did) how rock is that! I even told him how much he rocked and he agreed to a photo, what a nice guy. He even played guitar behind his head! Wow!

We didn't have any plans for New Years and we toyed with the idea of heading back to Berlin or even joining in the festivities back in Edinburgh. After some late night and last minute searching in Norway we decided to visit the English town of Bath about 1 and 1/2 hour train ride from London.

We arrive in Bath not knowing much about the place except that they have Roman Baths and that Stonehenge isn't too far away. Our hostel is right in the middle of town and on the way there we were amazed at the amount of shops there were and how beautiful the place is. We have pretty much got it down pat now to suss a new place out quite quickly and work out whats what.

We have decided that Bath is awesome for the following reasons;
*The shops here are amazing, something for everyone. We cashed on on the after Christmas sales!

*Lots of local organic beer

*Bath is the Vegetarians dream place to eat out, they even have a veggie pub!

 *Everything is within walking distance
The Bath Abbey and the Roman Baths are in the city centre!

*The home of Jane Austen
Us enjoying our tea at the Jane Austen Tea House

*The Avon river running through the center, lovely to walk along with a new fiance :)

*The people are very helpful and love to help.

Kylie feeding the local pigeons (again!!) Look they're even lining up!!

New Years Eve we made the trip out to Stonehenge. Wow what a magical and mystical place that was!! It was amazing being there, but we couldn't believe how cold it was! Even with the sun out, our hands pretty much froze and they might as well have turned blue (Ky left her gloves at the hostel so we wore one of Clints each. Oops!)

The Roman Baths were amazing too! The pictures pretty much speak for themselves. Most of it is just ruins, except for the main bath, which after all those centuries wince it was first built is still bubbling!

Clint did the adult audio guide...

Kylie did the Childrens audio guide (and got a certificate at the end. yay)

Some of the yummy food we ate in Bath :)

:) New Years Eve.. Meal and dessert :)

A couple of happy snaps from new years

We leave Bath on the 3rd of Jan, and then spent 2more nights in London until we fly home.
