34 days to go!

Its been too long! Sorry for the lack of updates but we have been extremely busy with the wedding coming up. Things are coming along nicely, we are dotting the i's and crossing the t's. So in 25 words or less, this is what we have been up to since our last update...

* Our good friend Beth turned 21 and we celebrated her birthday masquerade style at a hall in st peters. We got there early in the arvo and we helped pump up the balloons and sticky tape them to the walls. Id never actually used a balloon pump before so that was kinda awesome. Turns out im a machine when it comes to blowing up balloons with a balloon pump. To cut a long story short, Beth had a great night and its an honour for us to call her a lifelong friend. Kylie and lauren performed "Lean On Me" on their guitars, complete with fireworks and setting the hall on fire. Afterwards they smashed their instruments and we could tell there wasnt going to be an encore....kidding!...but they did bring the house down!

* We travelled to sunny Clare the day after Beth's for my grandmas 80th birthday. What a great day! My Aunty cooks the most amazing food so we were spoiled with some pretty tasty treats. We even got to take some various cakes home which didnt last long in my house. It was great to see everyone again and also to meet some family we havent met before! It was also good to share stories from our trip to Europe with the rellies. Heres a pic of Ky and I with my grandma! She had a lovely day and it was good to see her by surprise the other day when i ended up in Clare for work.

* We celebrated Kylie's grandpas birthday too. We all went to Charlies all you can eat. I love that place, something about the bottomless soft drink and all the chocolate mousse you can handle i think! It was also good to see her nanna and pa, aunties, uncles and cousins.

* A few weeks later we caught up with kylies nanna and pa as pa is going to be our marriage celebrant. We are very happy that he said yes when we asked him as we both look up to them and are very inspired by them and their many happy years together. We are currently working on our wedding vows which we are writing ourselves.

Kylie and I are also very happy to announce that we have officially found a place for us to live in as newly weds. After many months of searching and attending open inspections at random times of the day and week, we found our perfect place to begin our married life. Without giving away our surprise this early in the process, we can give you a few clues....

It might look something like this....

to something more like this.....

So to move into the new house means that i must bid farewell to my pokey little unit that has been my home for the last 5 and a half years. Im sad to leave but im more excited to be leaving to be honest! We have spent the last few months cleaning it up and getting things fixed or replaced. Thats right, i finally got the floorboards fixed and the walls painted....ahhhh open plan living, pity we arent going to be around to enjoy it! Thanks Tony for helping me paint on your day off!

So our plan is to rent it out and we are leaving it fully furnished. Itll be basically a move in with your suitcase kinda deal and we are hoping it will suit someone out there just nicely.

In the meantime im building another house which should be finished later in the year......

So we are planning for a wedding at the moment and a few weeks ago we decided to look for the perfect wedding cake. How hard do you think it can be to look for a cake? Well we found out that it was quite hard and very pricey!!! Must admit the internet made it very easy for us to check out a few thousand different cakes and we narrowed it down to what we wanted quite quickly. Kylie drew up a sketch of the cake and off we went looking and tasting cakes. After spending a good 6 hours in 2 shops talking cakes we were over it. On the upside though, we got afternoon tea twice and a late night snack one night hehe.
Eventually we found the right person to bake the cake we were after for a price close to what we think is still ridiculous for a cake.

Our cake looks nothing like this.....

Kylie has been busy catching up with her amazing bridesmaids and doing secret wedding stuff that im not allowed to know about til the big day. I dont mind that, thats ok with me but check out the suits that me and the lads will be wearing.....

How good does Pa look as Darth Vader?

With 34 days to go we are getting very excited and we are both looking forward to celebrating with all our friends, family and loved ones at the same place and time. We want to thank those who have taken the time to help us in way, shape or form. You know who you are and one day we will return the favour.

We are also stoked that there will be a federal election on our special day. This is just as annoying as Pearl Jam touring while we were in Europe!

Wanted : a house!!

So, we are getting married 4 months today or according to google countdown, in 119 days!! We are still busy getting things together and we have narrowed everything down to one big list.

We are still looking to rent a house somewhere in the Broadview/Clearview/Hampstead Gardens/Greenacres area. We have seen a few we like....

This was cosy but it only had one bedroom and the kitchen/bathroom/laundry all in one room didnt seem right....

This one had spectacular views but it was very breezy and there was nowhere to hang our jackets....

This one is more like it but there is nowhere to park our car and there is a dragon living downstairs! Theres no way we are gonna be tidying up after a dragon.

We do one day want to live by the beach where we can take the dog for a run, take the kids for a swim but we dont think having a bonfire in the loungeroom while we watch neighbours would be a great idea.

Yep thats right kylie, this house was used in Monty Python so they jacked the price up =(

So this one is still being built, we might come back when its finished.

So the search is on for a house. If anyone can help out, wed love to hear from you!

The story so far...easter style!

Happy Easter everyone! We hope you have all enjoyed a well earned 4 day break and got to enjoy the sunshine. We also hope the easter bunny was as kind to you as he was for us. He brought Clint a world record 14 cadbury creme eggs, we werent sure there'd be a basket big enough to carry them safely in to deliver. Kylie didnt do too bad for herself either, she got the kinder beuno and ferrero rocher she asked for.

On Good Friday we attended the morning services at modbury/para vista uniting. During the afternoon Clint had a marathon nintendo wii session with jessie while Kylie worked hard on preparing maps/gift baskets for the evenings youth group with the modbury uniting youth.

(just for the record clint is undefeated at wii tennis)

So for youth group we decided  to take the 14 kids on an "easter egg drop". We got the kids to make a card which had a message of hope and love and then bundle it into a small gift. We made 30 of them and then "hopped" into cars and drove to various church members houses and the kids jumped out and sneakily placed them by their front doors.
It was very entertaining watching them scale fences and opening creaky gates to deliver these little surprises!
The feedback from peoples reactions during the sunday morning service was very positive and proved to be very worthwile!

On the weekend before easter we both went to clints 20 year primary school reunion held at his teachers house. It was a great afternoon talking about that time and it was great to introduce Kylie to them. Everyone has changed quite alot (duh) but they were still familiar faces.

We have been very busy the last few weeks putting our wedding plans into motion and working towards our new life together. Lots of work still to be done and finishing touches to be put on things but it seems to be all coming together and we both are very blessed to have so many people in our lives that love and support us the way they do.

We have the reception venue booked and a photographer too which are huge ticks in our boxes. Its shaping up to be the best day of our lives!
Hopefully by the end of april, Clints place @ st marys will be ready to rent out. Theres still minor renovations that need to be done, including the painting of the bathroom/laundry. This is something we are both looking forward to doing as anything could happen really. Then we are looking to find a house to rent as newly weds in the broadview/hampstead Gardens area, so theres not much time left to go at st marys! how exciting!

So we still have a busy few weeks coming up including a visit to sunny mildura to attend our good friends Reggie and Annika's wedding. This will be a special day and we are really looking forward to it!

A Day In The Park....

Wow, what a day! A huge thank you to everyone who crawled, drove, flew, walked or limped to our engagement party last saturday. It was a fantastic day and a great success! We are both so blessed to have such a great bunch of friends and family. All your love and support means so much to us, especially in this special time!

Another HUGE thank you to my aunty Alison for baking/making the best cake that anyone in the botanic gardens had ever eaten!

Our wonderful friends and family panoramic style...

We hope everyone enjoyed themselves as much as we did. Thanks again to those who made the long trek to be there and also for the very generous gifts, we appreciate it!

More pics to come!
