Final Destination

Our last stop on our tour of central europe, is at a place that everyone knows and has heard stories about. The rumors are true, Amsterdam is out of control! However we both got to see the other side of it away from the coffe shops and the red light district.

Our hostel was the most dodgiest, dirtiest excuse for a place... the cleaners spent more time polishing the fire extinguishers and exit signs than cleaning our bathrooms! Nice huh!? However, it was walking distance to everything so that was ok.

After being stuck on the AutoBahn for 3 and a half hours, due to a massive car crash, we arrived about 8pm. We were hungry as! Lucky for us we found a little vegetarian restaraunt 5mins away. We loved our meals so much we returned for lunch the next day! The chef was stoked to see us and we had a great chat with him before we left :)

On the first morning we did a bike tour and it was freezing cold. This is an experience we will never forget as we both battled in the craziness of peak hour traffic. For the record, there are more bikes than people in amsterdam. It's not the cars you need to watch out for, its the cyclists, as they pretty much have right of way. We'll never forget the first hundred metres and thinking that we were gonna die!! But man what a rush, and we survived to tell the story!!

Dutch people, from our experience, are some of the nicest people in the world. (that means you Richard) We bought all our souvenirs and gifts to a post office and an awesome Dutch man, called Eric, bent over backwards to help the two of us box everything up and send it home. He even let us jump the queue and gave us free bubble wrap (which we all know goes down well in kylies book) It was very refreshing and his kindness made our day and also our time in Amsterdam memorable. After we said a million thankyous he smiled and said "Thanks for visiting Holland"

This box is coming to you very soon mum and dad!!! Dont open tho :P

We finished our day and tour by having dinner at a floating Chinese restaraunt on one of the hundreds of canals, amazing food :) and lots of it! Then we were lucky enough to enjoy a canal cruise, after this most of our tour went out and did the 'things you do in amsterdam', but we went back to our filthy hostel. But Alas, not all was bad news.. the bar man was nice enough to listen to our request in music.. which consisted of Pearl Jam.. Pearl Jam, a little more pearl jam. It was awesome to see Clint enjoying his fav' music that we had been away from for almost a month now!

So sadly our Topdeck tour has come to an end, we met lots of interesting people but most importantly we have learned lots about eachother and have loved travelling together!

We are now back in London and we have our own flat for the next few days. We have gone from travelling with 47 others, to now just the 2 of us. Nice!

  1. YEAH YEAH, I know payrise for Clinty, The hotels in Amsterdam or London are quite dodgy, bike ride @#$$%%^^ dangerous, so never complain about the trafic/trafic jams in Adelaide again because there isn't any.

haha have fun in COLD scandanavia,Richard.
