When in Rome....

We headed off early from Florence and made our way to Roma. We Stopped at Orvietto which is a small medieval town ontop of a hill. We got there by cable car which was cool but we didnt get to stay there long.

We arrived in Rome mid afternoon and did a walking tour. First thing we saw were the Spanish Steps...where we filled our drink bottles up with the free, fresh drinking water from one of the many fountains scattered throughout the city. It was free for all to drink but it cost 60 cents to pee!!!!

We even had to pay to have our photo taken with this clown....

We saw heaps of roman monuments including the Pantheon and the Colliseum.

The next day we went on a tour of Vatican City.....WOW!!!! That place was absolutely beautiful, room after room of amazing art and statues. They even had a statue of Clint....

Ive always wondered what i would look like immortalised and now i know!!

So this was all before wed even reached the Sistenne Chapel....man Michaelangleo was a genious!!!! We werent  allowed to take any pictures inside due to the flash of your camera damaging the artwork. We were both totally speechless and it almost brought us to tears when we witnessed how much of a superhuman effort went into this!!! We bought lots of things from the gift shop just to capture what we experienced. Its one of those things that you have to see to believe....

Then we headed to the Colliseum in daylight...

We tried to imagine being there and watching the gladiators and this was another breathtaking place to be!

Late in the arvo we got to experience the arty side of rome by heading to the Piazza Novona where there were huge fountains and lots of street art. We both had some quality Clint and Kylie time when we got to share a longnecker of Italian beer and a Nutella/Banana Gelati amongst the fountains and the local artists. Rome is full of beauty and the locals know how to show it.

So we ended the day together at the spanish steps sharing a quiet kiss amongst the romantic vibe in the heart of Rome!
